The Day of Silence is a national youth movement bringing attention to the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. The silence echoes all the damage caused by anti-LGBT bullying, name-calling and harassment.
SAFE (Students Advocating For Equality) will be holding an event in front of UCF's student union on April 16th from 11am-2pm. We will construct a 10ft Wall of Hate and encourage passing students to write hurtful phrases once directed at themselves on the board. At 1pm, we will be having a "breaking of the silence" event where the wall will be destroyed and students will perform musicals acts, spoken word, etc.
